Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. This Hallmark holiday brings many emotions to the surface, ranging from disdain to apathy to affection. For me, it has always been a time to reflect on all the amazing people I have in my life whom I love and love me in return. While I will absolutely take the time this year to do just that, I will also start a new tradition: I am going to show some self-love! Because you know what? We don’t do it enough.
So, dear readers, this Valentine’s Day, I would encourage you to treat yo’ self! Here are some wonderful women-owned companies from around the web where you can get yourself something nice. Because you’re worth it. And you love you!
The Little Market - Okay, so this site has basically everything that I could ever want in my life. Their mission is to empower women artisans around the world - Yes Way! From their website: "Working through cooperatives and social enterprises, our artisan partners improve the quality of life in their communities in a number of ways, including literacy workshops, business training, and health programs. Women artisans are often able to work from home while caring for their families, and they can use the extra income to send their children to school. Oftentimes these children will be the first generation to graduate high school."
If you feel overwhelmed with options, as I always do, how about this darling travel bag?
VOZ Collective - There's something about natural textures that has me super excited these days. Maybe I know the end is near and our environment is about to implode with the new administration and the only way to save it is by filling my life with natural fibers? Either way, I am super into this jewelry collection. Sisters Jackie and Lauren Sepulveda make some amazing bold-wood jewelry together. I love these earrings and also have a soft spot for the Vanessa Necklace. I think this is because I want Vanessa to win The Bachelor.
Bitch Magazine - Don't want to clutter your life with more things? How about supporting the publishing industry and gettin' learned in feminism? Magazine subscriptions are so fun - you get a gift every month, in the mail. Technically, Bitch comes out quarterly, but it's 80 pages so that will last you for several months, right?
Pencils! - Are you a lady-boss? Working on your side-hustle? Well, I ain't sayin' you a goal digger, but you should probably own these. Through the insanity that has been the past few weeks, wait - months? aww, hell...YEAR! - putting pencil to paper has been very therapeutic. I encourage you to do the same, with some new pencils.
Happy Valentine's Day, dear readers! I love you all so much and truly consider each and every one of you my Valentine. xoxo
